It's been a while, everyone! After a long break, we had continue the game development in June and will resume the monthly report from now on.
Quick summary for people who are new here. We have a Weekly Progress report in the secret lab section of our forum. The monthly reports will be a summary of those weekly reports, excluding the exclusive stuffs.
Game Status
First of all, thank you to everyone who has tried our public battle system test. It has been played more than 10,000 times now! Many of you also left us comments and suggestions which we really appreciate ^ ^
Gem System
After many comments and play testing, we have found flaws in the old system and came up with a new one. The gem and battle system has been overhauled and the result is as follow:
From right to left
- Normal Strike -> Deal physical damage to a target enemy's body part
- Special Strike -> Special attack depending on each character. For example, one character might deal small physical damage to target part three times, while another character might deal small physical damage to three unique random parts.
- Heal -> Heal user's hp
- Shield -> Temporarily reduce damage taken
- Physical Resource -> Collect to use a physical skills.
- Magic Resource -> Collect to use a magic skill
- Rage -> Unlike other gems, Rage cannot be erased by matching 3 of them. It will be erased along with an adjacent match of 3 of other gems. Pretty much the same way Ojama-Puyo work in Puyo Puyo series.
Erasing Rage gems will increase your Rage meter. Once completely filled, you'll enter Rage mode, which give you extra bonus to your stats and other stuffs!
Aiming Enemy's Part
No more waiting for a part gem to appear. You can now choosing which part of the enemy's body you want to target by simply clicking on the enemy.
Once clicked, you'll be ask to choose the part you want to aim. However, this doesn't mean you'll always land your hit on the desired part. Depending on your accuracy, it might land on an adjacent part instead. Some skills or special attack will attack multiple parts around the aim part, so choosing which part to attack is important.
More on Armor Parts
Armor Bonuses
We're thinking that you can upgrade armor part and get a bonus. For example, the arm guards that increase a chance of critical hit, or a helmet that help recharging magic skills faster.
These bonuses will be active as long as the armor part is not broken. Thus, you can plan your strategy based on enemy's armor part bonus.
Resolution Changed
We have decided to change the screen resolution for our game from 1024 x 640 to 1280 x 720.
Currently, the battle GUI is as follow:
Censoring and other questions
There were so many people asking and wondering why the public demo was censored and why is the game a web game and not a downloadable game, so I'll answer them and make it clear here
Censorship
The current battle scene test is exactly the same version we demonstrated and let people play at our booth at Kemoket 2 event. In Japan, while it's fine to sell adult content, everything will be checked to see if it's properly censored before it can be sold/shown at the booth. This is required because of Japanese Law, and hence the censorship in the game. The final version will be uncensored.
Unity Webplayer
We chose Unity Webplayer because it doesn't require us to make two separate builds for OSX and Windows. We were busy and wanted to release a quick public demo that anyone can play easily. The final version will be downloadable and you can play without any internet connection.
Donation Report 2013
Jan $198
Feb $141
Mar $95
Apr $330
May $317
Jun $455
Thanks to public demo, we got a lot of donation in the previous month! I'm really happy to hear that the demo was well-received, and many people decided to donate after they tried it.
Hopefully we can release another demo within this year, and not just a battle system this time. Every donation definitely helps us afford afford to spend more time on the game!

Reminder
While Kemo Coliseum will be a game that is free to play, it is definitely not free to make. If you can, please help support us so we can keep working on the game, make it better, and finish it faster :)
