Kemo Coliseum Monthly Progress : March




Hi everyone! Punipen's again. It's time for the March report of Kemo Coliseum's progress!

For those who's new to this I'll be doing a monthly progress report of Kemo Coliseum, so that you'll know what is going on right now and the game isn't abandon.

Don't forget that we also have a Weekly Progress report in the secret lab section of our forum. The monthly reports will be a summary of those weekly reports, excluding the exclusive stuffs. We're planning for setting up another donation system that will allow people who donate a certain amount to gain access to the secret lab, so please hang in there!

Anyway, let's continue with the report!


Game Status
We spent time last month working on the design document of the game, and build more on the game's world as well as the game's battle system. We've build a prototype based on the very barebone system of breaking each part of the armor already, and if you have access to the secret lab, you can try this in Kemo Coliseum's main development thread, in case you've missed it.

The biggest progress of this week must be the leveling up system and how can the player develop their character. This will be used in both the main game and the custom character mode, so we think it's very important and we believe we've got a pretty interesting system here.


  • New Resource System: We're thinking that 3 resources during the battle is probably too few and won't have much variety in term of character creation. So we re-design it and come up with 4 resources instead, which are:
    • (P)ower - Mainly used for PHYSICAL attack skill.
    • (T)echnique - For any PHYSICAL defensive skills, as well as status effect related skill.
    • (M)agic - Mainly used for MAGIC attack skill.
    • (W)ill - For any MAGIC defensive skill, as well as buff/de-buff skill
    All these resources can be gained by making a match on the board. The color of the grid of the gems you erased will tell you what kind of resource you will get. Most of the time, your character would focus on two types of resource. Some examples :
    - A  P/T character would be a physical fighter. Depending on the skills, he can be a powerhouse physical fighter or a trickster physical fighter.
    - A M/W character would be a magic based character. This type of character would obviously be weak against physical attack. While magic required resources, magic attack cannot be blocked normally, so you can deal damage without having to worry much.
    - A P/W character would be a physical fighter who focus on buffing himself to become even more powerful in order to land a single-hit armor break, or something similar. Might take time to pull off so you might need to focus on increasing HP or defense so you can survive before launching your super attack.

  • Quality System : Thanks to Reiga for introducing me to Echo Bazaar, I love how they keep track of each parameter in a form of quality. We've borrowed the concept and apply it to how you can build your character in Kemo Coliseum.
    Quality describe something about you. Each quality come with two elements; parameter bonus and skills. Every time you level up, you'll get 1 Quality Point that you can spend on...
    1.) Parameter Bonus - This will increase your stats according to the bonus written on the Quality's description. For example, "Exceptional Strength" will give you STR +2.
    2.) Raise Quality Level - This will raise your quality's level. You'll learn a new skill if the quality reach the requirement level. For example, "Warrior of the North" level 2 will grant you "Ice Slash" skill.
    Each hero will start with 3 unique Qualities. There are also common Quality that can be found from events, quests, or maximizing the level of a Quality. 

  • Erotic part! Yes, even with all the detail gameplay and system, this is an erotic game after all. So we're thinking about having some random event or quest that might lead to some erotic scenes. These'd probably be in text or small images instead of a full CG ( sorry, limited budget :/ ), but we can always add CGs later :)

Null Ghost finished more awesome and sexy sketches. I really want to show you but this is the meat of the game, right? Showing it here would mean spoiling the whole thing, so here's some sneak peeks!



These are sketches of the game over scenes of the Cat and the Bear. Null Ghost already finished erotic scene sketches of Husky and Bear though ^ ^

Don't forget that game over scenes are when you play as that character and lose in the boss battle, erotic scenes are when you beat that character as a boss during the boss battle. So if you play as the Bear, you can get his game over scene, but you'll never get the erotic scene of himself ( well, you can't fight yourself, can you? And no, they're not gonna fight their shadow, have sex with themselves, and get a Persona! )
