Kemo Coliseum Monthly Progress : April 2014

Hi there, everyone!

April report is finally here! After we post this, we'll be posting the public Kemoket3 demo shortly.

Quick summary for people who are new here. We have a Weekly Progress report in the secret lab section of our forum. The monthly reports will be a summary of those weekly reports, excluding the exclusive stuffs.

Game Status

April was a super busy month for us because we wanted to deliver a playable demo for Kemoket 3, a furry doujin event. Here's the list of what we worked on this month.

Battle System

- Changed the 'Thunder gem' from multi-part attack to multi-hit attack. Each hit will chip away enemy's shield by 20%. So it's a great tool to help you deal the most damage to your opponent.

- Add more skills! Currently, the available skill effects are
  • Deal damage to enemy/yourself
  • Heal yourself/yourself
  • Randomly destroy a specific number of gems on the board, activating or not activating the gem effects
  • Randomly destroy a specific number of a specific type of gem on the board , i.e., destroy 10 shield gems. 
  • Deal multiple damages

- Armor system changed! We switched the system to one life bar system now. I like it better than the old system due to its simplicity and now we can focus more on the board and skills.

Visual Novel System

- Improve the VN system used in Beast Warrior Night Attack so that it now support rich text tags.

New Health Bar

Finished a new health bar! Here's a gif animation to demonstrate how it works.

As you can see, there will be two health bars. The first one is the current armor's durability, and the bottom one is character's health. When the first bar is empty, it will be completely refilled if your character still has an armor layer left. Otherwise, it will be like in the gif animation.

Transition from visual novel scene to battle scene

Still playing around with the transition effect for this one. Here what it looks like

Other Updates/Changes

- Improve Damage Pop effect
- Change Pop Damage font
- Cascade Effect
- Flash Screen from Battle Animation
- Turn Switch Effect
- Fixed the bug where a gem's effect is double when Rage is full but is not activated.
- Rearrange gui layer and sprite layer

Kemoket 3 Demo

Since we would like to write a small report on the Kemoket 3 event, so we'll be posting the public demo in the new blog post.
